The Wizard of Ozの勉強
いままで見た映画の中で、何度も見たいのは「オズの魔法使い」だということがわかった。
原作に忠実だが、重要なところは追加し、変更している。なによりも俳優と舞台がすばらしい。
これから日の出を見に行かなければ・・とりあえず中断

閑話休題
原作は三人暮らしだが、映画では農場の仕事をする三人の使用人がいる。また、性悪な女地主や親切な旅回りの手品師が登場する。使用人は夢でかかしとブリキマンとライオンになり、女地主は西の魔女に、手品師はオズの魔法使いになる。ほんとに夢のようにすばらしい設定だ。
北の魔女は、原作ではマンチキンの人たちと同じ背格好のふっくらした老婦人だが、映画では原作の最後の国に登場するグリンダが北の魔女として登場している。北の魔女はドロシーをカンザスに帰す魔法はできないのでオズの魔法使いのところに行くようにと言ったのだが、ラストシーンでグリンダがドロシーの魔法の靴をコツンさせてカンザスに帰したことと矛盾しているが、それもいいだろう。魔法の靴を使う魔法を発見した！
映画の字幕を英語にして、字幕が出るたびに一時停止して書き取った。
英語もそうだが、なんせ機関銃みたいに発音が早い。でも、軽音楽のように気持ちいい。はやく慣れたいもんだ。
さて、物語の始まりの一番面白いところから勉強しよう。手品師に会うところだ。

When she fell out of Kansas. A miracle occurred. It really was no miracle.
What happened was just this.
The wind began to switch切り替わる. The house to pitch縦揺れ. And suddenly the hinges蝶番 started to unhitch緩む. Just then the witch to satisfy an itch熱望 went flying on her broomstickほうきの柄 thumbing親指を出す for a hitchヒッチハイク, and, oh, what happened then was rich滑稽. The house began to pitch. The kitchen took a slitch横ぶれ.

It landed on the Wicked Witch in the middle of a ditch溝. Which was not a healthy situatuion for the Wicked Witch.
